Calling all Early Childhood Educators, School Directors, Children’s Librarians, Parents, and Childcare Providers who are looking for a fun and effective professional development to help better engage your children and celebrate diversity. In this training we will guide participants on how to create a safe and joyful space where children from diverse backgrounds can be engaged and feel proud of their cultural heritages as it may relate to the classroom subject matter. Participants do not need to be bilingual to attend as we will explain effective tools for how to facilitate a bilingual storytime that incorporates languages represented in your classroom. We will give best practices for how to use your voice, rhythm, and movement skills while reading books to sustain children’s attention longer and encourage them to become more excited about learning. Participants will also receive an easy-to-learn and easy-to-implement system for integrating puppetry skills with children to help them with their own social-emotional development and increase their cultural sensitivity. Each participant will receive their own take-home puppet, slide whistle, and an original Bilingual Birdies CD download.
