FUN & EFFECTIVE TRAINING FOR EARLY EDUCATORS
Bilingual Birdies has been successfully teaching language and culture to children in New York City and San Francisco since 2007. Our professional developments highlight the triumphs of our decade-long classroom experience and make them accessible for early educators and children’s librarians who want to celebrate diversity in the classroom.
- Global Passport: Embrace Diversity Using Music & Movement
Learn techniques for infusing rhythm, voice, and hand percussion in your classroom to celebrate language and culture with your children. Participants will learn how to assess diverse backgrounds represented in their classrooms and empower children to be proud of their cultural heritages and build bridges with their classmates. This is ideal for educators with English Language Learners, Dual Language Learners, or classrooms that may have a lack of diversity. Each participant receives a CD and instrument to take home.
- Puppet Play: Promoting Social-Emotional Development
Master the basic skills of puppetry and how to use them to enhance children’s social-emotional development. The use of puppets can be a transformative tool to help children identify and regulate emotions as well as help model positive behavior. Each participant receives a puppet to take home.
- Multicultural Inclusion Workshop: Engaging Your Bilingual Community
Create a safe and joyful space where everyone can participate! This is geared towards Spanish or Mandarin speaking educators who want a system for connecting with their bilingual students and their English Language Learners. We’ll guide you on effective ways to make your story time more bilingual with fun multicultural music. Each participant receives a CD and instrument to take home.
Praise from our Trainees!
“This was the most fun training we’ve ever had! I value the new skills I’ve gained and feel confident I can start applying them immediately in my classroom. Thank you Bilingual Birdies!”
